What is MYLP?
The Muslim Youth Leadership Program (MYLP) is a week-long immersive program designed to equip high school students with the tools, skills, and confidence to lead in their schools and communities.
Through interactive workshops, and mentorship opportunities, students will gain a deeper understanding of advocacy, leadership, identity, and civic engagement all while connecting with peers who share similar values and backgrounds.
Program Overview:
Day 1: Identity, Leadership & Team Building • Orientation & group activities • Exploring leadership styles and strengths • Understanding identity and representation
Day 2: Know Your Rights & Advocacy 101 • Civil rights protections for youth • Introduction to advocacy and public policy • Storytelling for impact
Day 3: Civic Engagement in Action • Meet professionals in government and public service • Participate in a mock policy hearing
Day 4: Social Impact & Media Literacy • Organizing for change in your school or neighborhood • Navigating media and combating bias • Mental health and wellness in leadership
Day 5: Final Projects & Graduation • Leadership project presentations • Reflection & celebration • Certificate ceremony with invited guests
